Santa in a wheeled carriage…

November 17, 2007

…as opposed to his proper sleigh.

Le sigh.

I remember, you know – when I was a kid, snow started to fall as often as not in late october. It remained there until mid-march if not later, and “Spring” Break in Québec was spent skiiing and doing other wintery activities.

Then I started growing older. By the time I finished high school, Halloween and snow were two very different concepts, and I got my bike out of storage for Spring break (first week of march). By the time my sister finished high school, it was her roller blades she got out for spring break. By the time I got to university, I could spend Halloween hiking up a mountain in a t-shirt, and even then finding the weather a bit on the warm side.

Two years ago, the snow settled in to stay somewhere around the 24th of December.

Last year, it didn’t, and we had flowers blooming on Christmas day.

Goddamn climate changes.
