Oooops, did we do it again?

May 12, 2010

And so the Montreal Canadiens, the little team that just narrowly edged its way into the playoffs, keep on trucking. After coming back from losing 3-game-to-1 in the best of seven to take out Washington, the champions of the regular season, they just pushed another best-of-seven to the edge, only to take the win – this time against the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

To all practical purpose, that means that the team that was the worst on paper coming into the playoffs, has just taken out basically the two biggest teams in these playoffs.

Next game up depends on how Boston and Philadelphia end up doing – it will be either of them. I’m hoping for Boston, personally; Montreal-Boston is one of those old rivalries (very old, it’s the old Quebec/New France v. Massachusetts/New England rivalry!), and playing against them to decide who will make it to the final would quite epic.(It also helps that we went 5-1 against Boston during the regular season…)
